These pillows create a weighted sensation when placed over your eyes. The weight on your eyes stimulates the vagus nerve which represents the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system. The light pressure triggers a reflex to lower your heart rate and helps to regulate your mood.
The cranial nerve also responds to the weighted pressure sending a message down your spine to the rest of your body to gently relax. By restricting light and movement to your body in this resting state it sends a message to your brain to be still allowing the rest of your body to follow suit.
