Cannabis allows you to slow down the mind when it’s racing (typical with indica strains offering a mellow high to sink into the couch after a long day of work), allows you to motivate when you need to (typically sativa strains gives you that push to clean the house before the landlord shows up), and truly expands the mind into greater dimensions for greater depth of thought. Marijuana is a natural plant not a man-made product such as alcohol or prescription medications. In recent times the plant has been preferred as a holistic approach for cancer patients in terms of pain management and combating the disease.

Cannabis is composed of chemical compounds called Cannabinoids which include both THC and CBD. The healing benefits of these chemicals include help with anxiety, stress, chronic pain, nausea, and inflammation. CBD is the medicinally preferred cannabinoid that does not have any psycho active effects (the feeling of being “high”). THC is more commonly known as the part of that plant that “gets you high” causing you to feel euphoric, relaxed, or sometimes have a bit of anxiety.

The human body has a complex Endocannabinoid system found naturally within our body and cannabinoid receptors running through our organs, brain, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. The main goal of this system is to ensure “homeostasis” ensuring that our internal body is operating at optimum function despite any external changes to the environment. Using small dosages of CBD to THC ratios of cannabis can help regulate this system and bring our body back to its whole natural state.

States are beginning to recognize the benefits of cannabis both medicinally as well as for recreation use (think economics!). While the federal government has not recognized cannabis use as legal, many states are taking the reigns and passing state laws for legalization.

Currently one in five states allows citizens to toke up without a doctor’s note.
