The Institute of Cannabis Research was created in 2016 at Colorado State University – Pueblo, the first of its kind in the United States. Senate Bill 16-191 was passed in 2016 to allow the allocation of marijuana tax funding to be used for various cannabis research programs at CSU. On April 28-30th CSU will host the first national, multidisciplinary conference on marijuana. This will be an opportunity for various experts in the field to share knowledge and ideas about cannabis. Topics will include scientific research, medical, legal, industrial, economic, and social economic impacts.
Keynote speaker, Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, “father of cannabis research,” Professor at Hebrew University of Jeruselum will be present on Saturday April 29, 2017. He will speak on the ground breaking discoveries that has been integral in making contemporary cannabis research possible. There will be break through sessions throughout the conference on a wide variety of topics from medical marijuana research, impact on local economy’s from cannabis funds, grow operations, and countless others. This is a great way for participants to network across the industry as well as tour CSU-Pueblo’s expanding campus.
