On 4/20 The Denver Museum of Nature & Science and The Science Lounge presented a night on cannabis. The event was filled with various loosely related cannabis events. There was a guest panel of speakers including Dr. Nolan Kane, discussing the various stigmatists associated with cannabis and various perspectives on the subject.
The main level had an out of body experience where participants could hang out in an inflatable planetarium and travels to different planets and stars. If you indulged in an edible before the event this experience was sure to meet your out-of-body expectations.
After you traveled across outer space you could indulge further in the munchies table or purchase a treat from Chef Ian Kleinman of the Inventing Room. Chef Kleinman offered a variety of liquid nitrogen flash fried snacks and desserts. The munchies table was a stoners dream with Doritos chips and queso, salsa, and sour cream. There were also large jars filled with gummy worms and brownies to snack on. The childish take on the munchies was much appreciated at a modern adult activity.
After filling yourself up on snacks you could browse the Third Level of the museum looking at various showcases that were open while chatting with others about the powerful plant. What intrigued me the most about the event was the varying ages and interests there. From millennials in the Young Professional Club to baby boomers the event drew interest from all age groups.
Attending new events of this kind is exactly what Colorado needs to be doing to broaden awareness and education on the subject. Not every event has to be prefaced with a cloud of smoke or “hippies.” Moving towards legalization across the United States is a cultural change that affects all demographics and social groups. Cannabis legalization is a sophisticated solution for the twenty-first century and it is refreshing to see organizations of this caliber joining forces and spreading the positive vibes of cannabis!
