Ganja Yoga Book Tour – Denver

Twisted Sisters, Ganja Yoga, and Ganjasana joined together for an evening of celebrating the powerful plant – cannabis as well as the new release of Ganja Yoga’s book on Friday May 5, 2017. Ganja Yoga’s Book Tour showcased 13 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

Shelly Griffin, owner of Twisted Sisters, Dee Dussault, yoga teacher and author of Ganja Yoga, and Rachii Ma owner of Ganjasana joined forces to offer an exclusive celebration of cannabis and yoga. The event was in celebration of the release of Dee’s book Ganja Yoga offering readings and a book signingGanja Yoga Book Tour.

The event was sponsored by Dank Dispensary and Stillwater Brands who offer micro doses of THC infused tea. Each teacher offered their own perspective on the plant and how to implement consumption into your personal  yoga practice through mindfulness and movement.

Shelly offered a more traditional vinyasa yoga flow coupled with an opening chant to Shiva, the Ganja God. Celebrating and honoring the sacrament that cannabis offers to help cleanse and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. This class was appropriate for all levels offering a healthy sweat to get the body moving and the blood flowing. We then slowed down the body to the smooth tones of Dee Dussault offering a more yin approach to the class.

Dee’s portion of class focused on mindful breathing and long holds to allow yourself to sink deeper into the stretches and let the cannabis guide you to your safe edges. Dee’s past experiences with using cannabis paired yoga classes was apparent in both her class and reading the Ganja Yoga book. Dee has a gentle approach to both cannabis and yoga using the plant as a supplement to healing to help guide the body into deeper holds for greater release of both emotions and muscular tension.

Ganjasana

The final segment of class was brought to us by Rachii Ma who uses the plant medicine spirit for healing. She dropped the class into a deep meditation coining cannabis as our ally and friend trusting the plant and our instincts to settle the mind into higher levels of consciousness. Her unique approach to cannabis was truly engaging and allowed me to feel a connection to meditation that I normally do not experience in a regular yoga class.

The trio offered a truly unique experience for beginners and novices alike in a warm and welcoming environment. After class students were invited to purchase Ganja Yoga and Dee was available to sign copies. Everyone was then invited outside to socialize and munch on some vegetarian food from WongWayVeg Food Truck, a local Denver favorite.

This was one stop in Dee’s book tour having already toured nine cities with two more on the schedule after hitting up Boulder for a second round with Twisted Sisters and Ganjasana the next night.

It was truly an honor to share the space with Dee, Shelly, and Rachii.

For anyone in the Denver area looking to expand their practice with cannabis Twisted Sisters is a great resource specializing in ganja yoga retreats. For the more spiritual yogi Rachii offers a wonderful practice into the plant spirit medicine in Boulder, Colorado. As for Dee – well catch her on social media as she has become one of the most well known founding mama’s of cannabis in the United States and Canada!
